Fashion Publications

For this project, we had to create a concept for a magazine, create a media pack and pitch it. I loved brainstorming ideas and experimenting with them. For example, I really enjoyed coming up with a logo and then putting it on different mechanise and on the front covers. As it was my first time using Photoshop, I found the workshops very productive, and I’ve improved a lot from where I started. This was the only group project of the unit, which was my biggest struggle. I found it difficult to communicate, so I ended up having to do the media pack by myself. In the future, I know that we need to be a lot more organised with group work and so hopefully I can show those skills in later projects.
Fashion Marketing Report

I really enjoyed this project as we got to choose a brand and research into everything about it, specifically it’s marketing. I decided to choose Adidas, as I love their shoe wear. We had a word count of 2000 words, which felt quite daunting at first but since I enjoyed researching the brand, I found it quite easy. I’d never made infographics before, so it was fun to create new ways of presenting information. In hindsight, I wish I’d chosen a different brand that I actively wore a lot more. Also, if I had known the next project would be following on from this one, I would’ve liked to have chosen a cooler brand.
Physical Brand Assets

For this project, we had to rebrand, de-brand or extend the branding of the company we chose for our marketing report. During my research on the brand, I didn’t find many flaws that I could use for this project. As they were already quite sustainable, socially aware, and diverse, I’d wish I had chosen a less established brand that would be easier to fix. This project was hardest for me, as I struggled to brainstorm what to create. Eventually, after discussing options with my lecturers, I decided on doing an invite for a pop-up for a collaboration with an environmental activist. I chose David Attenborough, and then came up with the idea to use Favini paper to create the invite, which is made from 25% leather. The invite comes with a stuffed animal, which are representative of an endangered animal that we have sponsored with WWF, to help raise awareness for them. This project relied heavily on Photoshop, which is not my strong suit, however, I found it fun to experiment with different mock-ups and learn the basics of the programme.
Fashion Industry Awareness
For this project, we had to research into different roles, careers, brands and people in the fashion industry, and then write 4 blogs about whatever we wanted to do with those ideas, giving us insight into our future careers. We got to make a website, which was my favourite part of the project. I loved experimenting with fonts, colours, and images. I decided to write about a brand, photographers that inspire me, an ex-graduate talk we received recently, and a SWOT analysis of myself. Overall, this project was very fascinating, and I was able to gain a lot of insight into my possible direction post-university.
